5 Ways to Grow Faster in 2022

Posted on Feb 10, 2022 1:00:31 PM by Brandon Draga

While growth is certainly a goal for any business, the reality is that achieving that growth is not guaranteed without constant work.

Trying to formulate a solid growth strategy can be tricky with plenty of moving pieces. That’s why today on the Freightcom blog we’ll be sharing five things that can be sure to help your business maintain growth in 2022.

Boost Your Online Presence

The internet is simply part of the commercial ecosystem these days, as inescapable in the business world as it is in the rest of the world. With online shopping coming within 2% of in-store purchases among Canadians in 2021[1], the prospect of not prioritizing a business’ online presence in 2022 is unfeasible.

While having a website for your business is certainly important, especially if you utilize eCommerce sales channels, these days it is simply the bare minimum.

Utilizing a multichannel sales strategy can exponentially improve market penetration, as shown in a 2021 study that ranked Amazon as the most popular eCommerce sales channel, more than doubling net sales of the nearest competitor.[2]

Further, there is a rising need to consider the role of social commerce. Social media is largely encroaching on the traditional eCommerce space, with eMarketer reporting last year that an estimated 7.9 million Canadians had made online purchases either directly on a social media platform, or by following a link to a sales channel from said platform.[3]

Go Mobile

With eCommerce and social commerce in mind, it bears mentioning that a solid online presence means accounting for a mobile audience.

In 2020, Canadian eCommerce revenue from mobile devices amounted to roughly $20 billion USD versus $57 billion USD generated from desktop shopping. These numbers are projected to grow to $37 billion and $91 billion USD respectively by 2024.[5]

While these numbers are certainly evidence enough that there is a large enough audience to factor in optimizing a website’s user experience for mobile, upon further examination we see a more rapid growth of mobile commerce revenue, outpacing desktop eCommerce at a rate of roughly 1.25% year over year.

In short, investing in mobile optimization is investing in your business’ overall longevity.

Prioritize the Customer Experience

This is not to say that your business does not already place immense value on its customers. They are, of course, the core reason behind your growth to begin with. With that said, it is worth noting that there are ways to optimize the customer experience that can ensure continued growth.

This can be as simple as offering free shipping on returns, which has proven to be a deciding factor for 62% of online consumers.[6] Consider every aspect of the customer journey, and how it can be made to feel like a unique experience to each customer, such as utilizing algorithmic personalization to provide customers with a unique shopping experience, recommending items based on prior shopping habits.

This AI-based system can boast an impressive ROI; according to Gartner, strong personalization can result in customers spending 48% more in their carts[7].

Utilize social media to encourage customer feedback

Be Flexible

Few things have showcased the potential volatility of the business world quite like the last two years. Among other things, it has shown the importance of flexibility in making sure that even in the most difficult times a good business can survive, and even thrive.

Utilizing 3rd party logistics is a way to ensure that your business can stay nimble in any climate. In effectively outsourcing your business’ fulfillment needs, the process of scaling your operations either up or down becomes streamlined and has a much less drastic effect on your operational costs, and your overhead as a whole.
