Access Points are an alternative to shipping to a residential address. Carriers have participating local businesses as access points such as grocery stores, convenience stores, etc. that serve as convenient and efficient parcel delivery and pickup locations. |
Accessorials |
Accessorials are additional, supplemental, or special services provided to ensure the safe delivery of goods, usually charged as a flat fee |
Actual Weight |
The actual weight of the shipment is the total weight of the goods, packaging and pallet (if applicable). |
Additional Charges |
Extra charges for a shipment that are billed on subsequent invoices after the original charges have been billed out |
Additional Handling |
Fee for shipments that are non conveyable and require additional care in handling or transport |
Address Correction Change |
If the delivery address provided is incorrect and needs to be adjusted. This can also apply for shipments booked to PO Boxes without a street address being provided |
Adjustment |
If the amount charged is different from the amount quoted due to any mistakes, changes, or additional charges, this may be indicated as an adjustment |
Admin Role |
Administrators have access to all the Freightcom system features and can create and delete other users, including other administrators. |
Adult Signature |
Adult signature is a service whereby the carrier will verify the ID of the receiver to ensure they are of legal age in the delivery province/state. |
Advance Fee Charge |
Advance fees are billed when the courier has to pay customs on the shipper's behalf to get the package released. |
Amazon/FBA Delivery |
Delivery specifically to an Amazon FBA distribution centre. |
Amusement Park |
Commercially operated park which has various devices for entertainment and usually booths selling food and drink. |
API |
A type of integration that allows for data to be transmitted between one software product to another. The Freightcom API integrates Freightcom’s shipping rates directly into the website or enterprise system. |
API Token |
An API token is an alphanumeric code which is unique to your Freightcom account. It can be used from any system to validate your API calls. |
Applicable Charges |
These are audited charges for shipments that show up on customer invoices. If nothing has changed on the shipment, the original charges (obtained at the time of quoting the shipment) will match the applicable charges on the invoice. If something has changed on the shipment incurring any extra charges, the applicable charges will be higher than the original charges with a comment for why there was an increase. |
Appointment Delivery |
Locations that require an appointment to be scheduled before delivery. |

BC Carbon Tax |
The BC carbon surcharge is a policy which adds carbon taxes to fossil fuels burned for transportation and aims to reduce and eventually eliminate the use of fossil fuels. |
Beyond Surcharge |
Services to or from a beyond point. Beyond points are defined as areas that are less populated or accessible causing higher operating costs for the carrier. |
Bill of Lading (BOL) |
A Bill of Lading (BOL) is a document acting as a contract between the shipper and carrier acknowledging the receipt of goods for transport. The BOL describes the nature of goods, weight of goods, size/number of items, and the point of origin and intended destination of goods. |
Billing Adjustment |
A billing adjustment is when the total cost of the shipment is changed retroactively to reflect services rendered by the carrier, as they differ from the services booked by the shipper. |
Billing Reference Code |
User-initiated internal code that the user gives a number for their shipment for reference. |
Bond Fee |
Bond fee applies when duties and taxes are not paid in advance by the shipper or receiver. The carrier must post a bond to allow the shipment to be released in advance of payment to the border services agency. |
Bonded Warehouse |
A building or secured location in which dutiable goods may legally be stored, manipulated, or undergo manufacturing operations without payment of duty. |
Boxes |
Cardboard rectangular structure used for shipping. |

Certificate of Origin |
A certificate of origin is a legal trade document to declare the country of origin of a product. This in turn determines the tariffs applicable to your product for import and/or export. |
Claim |
Formal request by a shipper or receiver against a carrier with regards to damage and/or loss of a shipment. |
Claim Approved |
Carrier accepts liability for loss or damage of the shipment being claimed against and provides financial reimbursement. |
Claim Denied |
Carrier denies liability for loss or damage of the shipment being claimed against and does not provide financial reimbursement. |
Claim Settled |
Payment as compensation for loss or damage to a shipment has been issued. |
Class & Density Calculator |
The class and density calculator is available only as an estimation tool to provide the recommended freight class. The class is determined based upon a range of factors, including: ease of handling, value, weight, length, height, density, and liability. This is applicable for shipments moving to/from/within the United States. |
Commercial Business with Dock |
Businesses with a truck-level loading dock and/or businesses with equipment to load/offload freight from a trailer. No tailgate is required. |
Commercial Business with Tailgate Required |
Businesses without a truck-level loading dock and/or businesses without equipment to load/offload freight from a trailer. Tailgate is required to safely load/offload the goods at pickup or delivery. |

Construction Site |

Cost Invoice |
A document indicating the value of goods purchased between the shipper and their supplier/manufacturer. A cost invoice does not reflect the retail price of the goods. |
Country Club |
A country club is a privately owned club that generally offers a variety of recreational sports and facilities for entertaining, which may have gated access. |
Courier |
A courier is a company that transports packages/documents. |
Courier Pak |
A courier pak is a tearproof and waterproof bag used for shipping documents/items. Padded Paks are permissible. Total weight cannot exceed 3 lbs (1.36 kg). |
Crates |
A crate is a large shipping container, often made of wood, typically used to transport large, heavy and/or fragile items. |
Cross-Border Fee |
Fee applicable to shipments which cross national borders. |
Cross-Border Shipment |
Shipment which crosses national borders. |
Cubic Feet |
Cubic feet is an imperial unit of volume typically used for American shipments. |
Cubic Meter |
Cubic meter is a metric unit of volume typically used for Canadian shipments. |

Customs Broker |
A customs broker is a licensed party that facilitates the clearance of goods for shipments crossing national borders. |
Customs Invoice |
A document that travels with your shipment and declares the information of the items being shipped. The customs invoice includes the pickup and delivery addresses, an itemized description of the goods, the shipment value, tax ID of the receiver, reason for export, the country of origin and itemized values for each item. |
Cylinders |
Pressurized containers used for transporting liquids and gases. |

Default Address |

Delayed |

Delivered |

Dicom/GLS® defines any package as large when its length plus girth combined is between 130" (330.2 cm) and 165" (419.1 cm). Large Packages are subject to a minimum billable weight of 90 lbs (40.8 kg) in addition to the Large Package Surcharge. |
Dimensional Weight |
At the time of booking, the quote provided to you is based on the shipment’s dimensional weight, which is calculated based on the dimensions and weight that you indicate. The dimensional weight may not match the actual weight of a shipment. |

Documentation |

Drums |

Duties Taxes Paid |

Limited Access |
A limited access location is one where trucks do not have clear and unfettered access to the exact pickup or delivery spot and this may require a surcharge. Examples include, but are not limited to: churches, mosques, temples, synagogues, schools, colleges, universities, construction sites, individual/mini storage units, strip malls, malls, military bases, prisons, golf courses, farms, funeral homes, cemeteries, and gated locations. Additionally, any other location that is difficult for a truck to maneuver around may be considered limited access. |

Stackable |
Pallets that may be stacked in transit are eligible for lower rates than non-stackable pallets. Quotes can be obtained for up to 6 non-stackable standard-sized skids or up to 12 stackable standard-sized skids. |
Statement of Non-Repairability |
The statement of (non) repairability must be on the letterhead of the manufacturer, supplier or a repair company stating whether or not the goods can be repaired. If repair is an option, a repair estimate should be included. |
Storage Charge |
Fee when a shipment requires storage at any given point in the transport process. |
