Access Points are an alternative to shipping to a residential address. Carriers have participating local businesses as access points such as grocery stores, convenience stores, etc. that serve as convenient and efficient parcel delivery and pickup locations.

Accessorials are additional, supplemental, or special services provided to ensure the safe delivery of goods, usually charged as a flat fee

The actual weight of the shipment is the total weight of the goods, packaging and pallet (if applicable).

Extra charges for a shipment that are billed on subsequent invoices after the original charges have been billed out

Fee for shipments that are non conveyable and require additional care in handling or transport

If the delivery address provided is incorrect and needs to be adjusted. This can also apply for shipments booked to PO Boxes without a street address being provided

Administrators have access to all the Freightcom system features and can create and delete other users, including other administrators.

Adult signature is a service whereby the carrier will verify the ID of the receiver to ensure they are of legal age in the delivery province/state.

Advance fees are billed when the courier has to pay customs on the shipper's behalf to get the package released.

Delivery specifically to an Amazon FBA distribution centre.

Commercially operated park which has various devices for entertainment and usually booths selling food and drink.

A type of integration that allows for data to be transmitted between one software product to another. The Freightcom API integrates Freightcom’s shipping rates directly into the website or enterprise system.

An API token is an alphanumeric code which is unique to your Freightcom account. It can be used from any system to validate your API calls.

These are audited charges for shipments that show up on customer invoices. If nothing has changed on the shipment, the original charges (obtained at the time of quoting the shipment) will match the applicable charges on the invoice. If something has changed on the shipment incurring any extra charges, the applicable charges will be higher than the original charges with a comment for why there was an increase.

Locations that require an appointment to be scheduled before delivery.

Shipping bags, also known as poly mailers used to transport small shipments that are not fragile in nature.

A billing adjustment is when the total cost of the shipment is changed retroactively to reflect services rendered by the carrier, as they differ from the services booked by the shipper.

User-initiated internal code that the user gives a number for their shipment for reference.

Bond fee applies when duties and taxes are not paid in advance by the shipper or receiver. The carrier must post a bond to allow the shipment to be released in advance of payment to the border services agency.

A building or secured location in which dutiable goods may legally be stored, manipulated, or undergo manufacturing operations without payment of duty.

A courier is a company that transports packages/documents.

A courier pak is a tearproof and waterproof bag used for shipping documents/items. Padded Paks are permissible. Total weight cannot exceed 3 lbs (1.36 kg).

A crate is a large shipping container, often made of wood, typically used to transport large, heavy and/or fragile items.

Cubic feet is an imperial unit of volume typically used for American shipments.

A customs broker is a licensed party that facilitates the clearance of goods for shipments crossing national borders.

A document that travels with your shipment and declares the information of the items being shipped. The customs invoice includes the pickup and delivery addresses, an itemized description of the goods, the shipment value, tax ID of the receiver, reason for export, the country of origin and itemized values for each item.

Pressurized containers used for transporting liquids and gases.

Goods that have been damaged while being transported by the carrier.

Dangerous Goods are substances that, when transported, are a risk to health, safety, property, or the environment and as such may require a surcharge. Special precautions are required to ensure their safe transportation.

The declared value of a shipment is what the shipper enters as the value of the goods being shipped for customs purposes.

Description of the goods being transported.

Hazmat paperwork is required for all domestic and international hazmat product shipments to correctly declare and provide essential information consistent throughout the transportation industry.

Dicom/GLS® defines any package as large when its length plus girth combined is between 130" (330.2 cm) and 165" (419.1 cm). Large Packages are subject to a minimum billable weight of 90 lbs (40.8 kg) in addition to the Large Package Surcharge.

At the time of booking, the quote provided to you is based on the shipment’s dimensional weight, which is calculated based on the dimensions and weight that you indicate. The dimensional weight may not match the actual weight of a shipment.

LTL shipments that are booked but pickup has not yet been scheduled.

A dispute is when a shipper does not agree with the final charge of a shipment and would like to contest the charge with the carrier. This is likely due to any additional fees incurred from the original quote for the shipment.

Freightcom is corresponding with the carrier to investigate the disputed charges to resolve the dispute.

The carrier has all the information required and is in the process of reviewing the dispute.

A distribution is when the exact same shipment is being sent from one address to many different recipients.

Documents related to a shipment, these can include a shipping label, commercial invoice, packing list, photos, sales invoice, proof of delivery, certificate of origin, Hazmat declaration, etc.

Large cylindrical containers typically used for shipping large quantities of liquids or chemicals.

If the shipment arrives with duties paid, it means the sender has handled payment allowing for the shipment to be released for delivery.

Form of taxation levied on certain goods that are imported and/or exported. Duty fees are determined based on the value of the goods and the regulations of the customs agency for the country the shipment is delivering to.

The Harmonized Commodity Coding and Description System (HS Code) is the international standard for categorizing commodities for import taxes and statistical purposes.

A service that protects shippers against lost or damaged shipments. National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) freight classes streamline freight categorization and pricing. Use NMFC item numbers to classify goods and receive the most accurate pricing.

Noting the correct NMFC item number on the bill of lading helps establish correct shipping costs and avoid reclassification or rate differences. The freight class depends on the density, handling, stowability, and liability of the item. All commodities fall under one of 18 classifications that range from class 50 to 500.

The Value Added Tax charged by customs of the country the shipment is delivering into.

If the pickup or delivery address is outside the carrier’s designated delivery area, there may be a surcharge.

UPS® packages can be up to 165" (419.1 cm) in length plus girth combined. Packages can be up to 108" (274.3 cm) in length.

An invoice is considered urgent when it is 5 days past the deadline. If an invoice is still unpaid 10 days after the original deadline, the user will not be able to book new shipments until the remaining balance is paid.

Users can only use the features of the Freightcom system that the administrator allows.
